Lithuania Bans Real Estate Sales to Russians

The Lithuanian authorities announced a ban on the sale of real estate in the country to Russian citizens and companies.

The Lithuanian parliamentary committee said the ban applies to both individuals and legal entities.

According to statistics, during 2022, Russians bought 699 houses and apartments in Lithuania.

The Rambler news site reported that the Lithuanian authorities justified the decision by saying that the increase in real estate purchases could harm the national security of the republic.

The committee also considered it mandatory to include an article in the bill on sanctions on real estate calling for the publication of general information about the work of Lithuanian companies and partners in Russia and Belarus.
