Law to Collect Funds from Travelers Abroad Ratified by Al-Sisi

The Official Gazette of Egypt published an amendment to some provisions of the Stamp Duty Law, imposing a tax on leaving the country and entering theaters and other entertainment venues and nightclubs.

The articles of the law provide that the texts of paragraphs (5) and (12) of the first paragraph of article 1 of Law No. 147 of 1984 on the introduction of fees for the development of public financial resources should be replaced by the following two texts: paragraph (5) – when leaving the territory Republic: GBP 100 when leaving the territory of the Republic of the Republic, except for foreigners arriving for the purpose of tourism only in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Matruh), where the fee is 50 GBP.

The exceptions are Egyptians and foreigners, drivers of passenger and public vehicles, as well as those who work on lines or trucks that regularly cross the borders of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The newspaper also published the President’s decision to ratify Law No. 30 of 2023, to amend certain provisions of the Income Tax Law promulgated by Law No. 91 of 2005, and to amend certain provisions of Law No. 182 of 2020 by cancellation of the introduced exemption. on income from Treasury bills and bonds or capital gains resulting from transactions. Income tax is included in these bills and bonds.
