Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia and China are working to expand the scope of strategic cooperation against the backdrop of containment policies directed against Moscow and Beijing.
“We highly appreciate the results of the Beijing summit, at which our leaders discussed in detail the objectives of our strategic partnership,” Lavrov added today, Thursday, at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
He explained that “against the backdrop of the US strategic approach and its desire to double the containment of development in our country, we continue to increase volumes and expand cooperation.”
He stressed that Russian-Chinese relations have great potential and prospects, and the two countries will continue to develop new forms of cooperation that are not affected by external negative factors.
On the Indonesian island of Bali, where the meetings of the G20 foreign ministers will begin today, the Foreign Minister held meetings with his Turkish counterparts Mevlut Cavusoglu and Chinese head Wang Yi.
