Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo on an official visit.
Egypt is the first country Lavrov will visit on his five-day African tour, during which he will also visit Congo, Uganda and Ethiopia.
During his visit to Cairo, Lavrov will deliver a speech at the League of Arab States, during which he will touch on the development of Arab-Russian relations.
Earlier, in an exclusive interview with Novosti and RT, Lavrov said that Russia had a long and good relationship with Africa, dating back to the Soviet Union, adding that Moscow had been actively working to restore its position on the continent in recent years, noting that this approach is shared by African countries.
