latest surgery may renew debate over whether ruth bader ginsburg should retire

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is on the Supreme Court, is known to be a badass. At 81, she lifts weights, does push-ups, and uses an elliptical glider to get her heart rate up. But even warriors have bad days, and Ginsburg had heart surgery on Wednesday morning to put a stent in her coronary artery.

Ginsburg is “resting comfortably,” and in 48 hours, she should be able to go home. But Ginsburg’s latest surgery will probably bring up the question of whether she should retire again. This is a question that keeps coming up, even though she says she’s fine and it won’t happen.

In a new episode of “Drinking & Talking,” which we actually filmed two months ago, we got a group of experts together to talk about the issue over Manischewitz and cheap Merlot. Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, Laura Bassett, a reporter for HuffPost, Shaunna Thomas, co-founder and co-executive director of UltraViolet, and Rep. Gwen Moore were some of the experts who gave their opinions (D-Wis.). Sam Stein from HuffPost was also there.

Should people stop asking Ginsburg when she’s going to retire? Should she quit because it’s the right thing to do? Is there anyone who is more badass than Notorious RBG?
