Kyiv expressed disappointment in Germany

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba spoke about Germany’s disappointing signals not to supply his country’s army with tanks and armored vehicles.

He tweeted: “Disappointing signals from Germany, and Ukraine now needs Leopard tanks and Marder tractors.

And he added: “There is not a single reasonable argument why these weapons were not provided, only abstract fears and excuses … What is Berlin afraid of, but Kyiv is not?”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Berlin will not take any unilateral steps to supply arms to Ukraine and will work in this direction only in cooperation with its allies.

Asked by a journalist about plans to hand over Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, Schulz said: “We will remain committed to the position of the German government, and we will maintain our position in the future, especially since we will not take any unilateral steps.”
