Kyiv anticipates the arrival of F-16 fighters by year-end

Andriy Yermak, adviser to the President of Ukraine, said that Ukraine hopes to receive the first batch of F-16 fighter jets from its Western allies by the end of 2023.

“I think we will be able to receive the first batch of American F-16 fighters by the end of this year,” Yarmak said in an interview with the Ukrainian newspaper RBC.

According to him, most countries of the “air coalition” are ready to deliver F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine before the end of this year, pointing out that other countries cannot do this due to what he called “technical problems.” .”

And Politico reported earlier, citing unnamed Western officials, that Ukraine could receive F-16 fighters in early 2024, noting that it was still open to determine which countries would provide the fighters, and most likely it would be the Netherlands. and Denmark, unless a final decision has already been made.

For his part, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg did not specify the date for the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine, indicating that this issue would depend on the training of Ukrainian pilots and the assessment of the situation by the allies.

For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry has described the supply of weapons by NATO countries to Ukraine as “playing with fire”, incitement that fuels the crisis, undermines the chances for peace and could lead to the outbreak of nuclear war.

The Russian Defense Ministry also warned Western countries against supplying weapons to Ukraine and promised to crush them on Ukrainian soil.
