Kremlin refuses to comment on US prisoner swap proposal

The Kremlin refused to comment on the news about the US proposal to exchange the Russian prisoner Viktor Bout for the Americans Paul Whelan and Britney Grainer.

“No comment,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

CNN, citing informed sources, reported that after months of internal wrangling, the Biden administration offered to trade Viktor Bout in a potential deal to free two U.S. prisoners in Russia, basketball player accused of drug smuggling Britney Grainer and convicted espionage Paul Whelan.
