Kishida: G7 plans to halve Russian oil prices

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that he expects to set a price ceiling for Russian oil at half of its current value, and it is also planned to create a mechanism to prevent the purchase of Russian oil at a cost above the specified level.

Kishida stressed that “the world is faced with a situation in which the foundations of the existing order are crumbling.” Therefore, “it must be emphasized that any practice of violence will have a high price.”

It is noteworthy that the leaders of the G7 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France and Japan) at the summit on June 26-28 confirmed their determination to reduce dependence on Russian energy resources and agreed in principle to start reducing Russian oil and gas prices .
