Kenyan presidential candidate vows to expel Chinese if he wins

Kenya’s vice president and presidential candidate William Ruto has announced that he will sack Chinese in positions that Kenyans can fill if he wins elections scheduled for next August.

“The Chinese are roasting corn and selling mobile phones… We will send them all back to their country… This whole business is for the Kenyans,” Ruto told the economic forum.

He added: “Don’t worry about foreigners doing this business. We have enough planes to deport them.”

Ruto, 55, is running for President of Kenya, which is now held by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is unable to run for a third term.

China is Kenya’s second largest creditor after the World Bank and has funded many infrastructure projects.
