Jeddah.. Extinguishing major fire caused by overturning fuel truck and calling for action to prevent it from happening again.

Civil Defense in the Saudi city of Jeddah announced that it had extinguished a fire that started in a fuel truck after it overturned on a public road.

The civil defense authorities in Jeddah reported that a fuel leak had been repaired after successfully extinguishing the fire, noting that the accident damaged 6 vehicles without fuel and loss of life.

A number of activists commented on the news on Twitter, as one of them demanded that specific hours for the movement of gas and fuel trucks inside the cities be set, “and this will be, for example, from midnight to dawn.”

A number of commentators also pointed to the difficulty of gathering crowds to watch and photograph such incidents, and the ensuing “traffic disruption that resulted in a congestion of vehicles and a delay in escaping from car flames.”

One activist emphasized the importance of “rescuing the victims, taking into account the risk assessment, without blocking the roads and allowing the competent authorities to get to the place.”

The same commentator pointed out that “photography and documentation of the events are controlled so that they do not interfere with traffic”, describing the gathering as “an uncivilized scene that causes traffic congestion and can delay paramedics, which affects the lives of those affected.”

In this context, one of the activists said: “The assembly must be fought with the power of the regime.”
