Jakarta discusses with Moscow the introduction of the Russian payment system "world" to Indonesia

Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares said that Jakarta is discussing with Russia the possibility of introducing the Mir payment system in the country.

“As for the use of Russian Mir bank cards, we are now discussing this issue. We are working on it. We have a financial working group between the two countries,” Tavares said.

Mir, a Russian bank card operating through the national payment system, was launched in 2015 after a number of Russian banks ran into problems with Visa and MasterCard companies due to Western sanctions against Moscow.

Today, using Mir bank cards, you can pay for goods or services or withdraw money from ATMs in countries such as Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
