Italian parliamentary committee warns of "Possible foreign intervention" influence elections

The Parliamentary Security Committee of the Italian Republic has called for a state of “parliamentary readiness” to counter “types of possible foreign interference” in the country’s scheduled parliamentary elections.

In a letter to the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the chairman of the committee, Adolfo Urso, referred to “hacking operations that took place during the 2015 German elections, which led to the disruption of “computer systems in the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) and the theft of information from the emails of German parliamentarians”, and About other recent transactions.

The letter from the head of Kobasir dates from days before the resignation of the Draghi government, when it was hoped that elections would take place after the end of the legislative session next spring, and refers to investigations being carried out by the committee on “forms of disinformation, foreign interference, hybrid and electronic threats.”
