Israel’s new prime minister meets Arab president for the first time

Israel announced that its new prime minister, Yair Lapid, spoke for the first time to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who congratulated him on taking office.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s page says that bin Zayed wished the Prime Minister success and also “emphasized the continuing importance of the relationship between the two peoples.”

She noted that the call took place on Thursday evening.

Lapid negotiated with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to dissolve the Knesset and appoint him Prime Minister.

Lapid held his first government meeting on the 3rd of this month.
