Iranian Foreign Ministry statement on Turkish bombing of northern Iraq

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser al-Kinani condemned the Turkish bombing of the city of Dahuk in northern Iraq, which killed and injured civilians.

Today, Thursday, an official from the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed sympathy to the families of the victims, the government and people of Iraq, emphasizing the Islamic Republic’s firm and unconditional support for the stability and security of Iraq.

He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran regards the security of Iraq as part of its security and does not hesitate to provide any assistance in this regard.”

It is noteworthy that the day before, on Wednesday, a Turkish bomber shelled the resort of Barh in the governorate of Dahuk, as a result of which 9 people were killed and 23 were injured.

Iraq decided to file a complaint with the UN Security Council against Turkey. He also instructed Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi to prepare a comprehensive dossier on Turkey’s ongoing violations and submit it to the Security Council.
