Iran coach’s first comment after crushing defeat

Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz, manager of the Iran national team, stated that the match against England ended in the first half after conceding three goals and his players were unable to score, so he received a big defeat.

The Iranian national team suffered the biggest defeat in the history of its participation in the finals of the World Cup, losing to England (2:6) today, Monday (2:6) in the first round of the group competition of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Queiroz said after the match: “My opinion is very simple and realistic. The match ended in the first half with the score (0:3). keep your courage and try to play football the way we do.”

Queiroz added: “The team continued to play until the end, but the level difference between the players was present from the very beginning.”

He continued: “We have learned from that lesson and we are more ready to face Wales and we will try to win the next matches.”

And the Portuguese veteran coach continued: “The Iranian players are not in the best psychological shape, but I am proud of what they have done.”

He noted, “We have had more support from the public in the past, while people who don’t support Iran don’t want it, we want the fans to support us all the time.”

Regarding the injury of the main goalkeeper of Iran goalkeeper Ali Reza Jahanbakhsh with the start of the confrontation with England, Queiroz confirmed that he had a concussion and bled a lot, stressing that he had gone to the hospital for further exams.

Carlos Queiroz, 69, concluded: “Our goal is to correct what will happen in the upcoming matches, and defeat could have been avoided if we had not lost mental presence.”
