Investigation Launched by French Court into Synagogue Attack in Tunisia

The anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office in Paris has launched an investigation into the murder of a 41-year-old French Tunisian in an attack last Tuesday evening in front of the Griba synagogue in Djerba, eastern Tunisia.

The competent prosecution stated today, Thursday, that the investigation was prompted by the French nationality of one of the victims.

It added that an “investigation for a murder charge in connection with a terrorist group has been launched. The investigation has been entrusted to the General Directorate of Internal Security.”

And the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tunisia earlier reported that during an armed attack on a synagogue in the south-east of the country, 5 people were killed, including 3 security officers.

The statement said that on Tuesday evening, a security officer associated with the National Guard Naval Center in Aghir Djerba killed a colleague using sidearms and seizing ammunition.
