Injury ends Jaber and Serena’s double at Eastbourne

Tunisian Anas Jaber, ranked third in the world, was forced to withdraw from the Eastbourne tennis tournament alongside veteran American Serena Williams in doubles on Thursday due to a knee injury.

The organizers said in a statement that the duo “Jaber-Williams withdrew from the semi-final match due to an injury to Anas Jaber’s right knee.”

Serena, 40, has returned to competition at Eastbourne after a year-long absence as she withdrew from the first round of Wimbledon last year with an injury and chose to play Jaber in the doubles event and reached the semi-finals after winning her first two matches.
