The Joint Focal Point in Istanbul is investigating what could be a naval mine found along one of the humanitarian sea lanes identified under the Black Sea Grain Export Initiative.
A statement from the center on Tuesday said it had reached an agreement to leave the Odessa port of the sea tug “Sapphire” and the search and rescue boat SAR-02 for a preliminary examination of the body after one of the vessels crossing the pass reported finding it earlier on Tuesday. .
The statement added that the two ships would depart for the site of the discovery of the body in the northern sector of the passage on Wednesday, October 26th.
Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed on July 22 in Istanbul two documents concerning the problem of supplying food and fertilizers to world markets, in the so-called “grain deal”. As part of this deal, the UN should commit itself to lifting various restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets, while the first part of the deal determines the algorithm for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products from the Black Sea ports, which are under the control of Ukraine.
