huffpollster how many coloradans plan to watch the super bowl high one pollster asked

A Quinnipiac University poll done last night and released today found that 6 percent of Colorado adults who plan to watch the game will enjoy it with a mix of beer and marijuana, while 36 percent will stick with tradition and just drink beer. Another 2% say they will only take marijuana, and 56% say they will neither take beer nor marijuana.

The independent Quinnipiac University poll found that among adults ages 18 to 49, 3 percent plan to smoke pot, 43 percent plan to drink beer, and 8 percent plan to do both. 4 percent of adults aged 50 to 64 plan to drink both beer and marijuana, while 32 percent only plan to drink beer. One percent of adults aged 65 and up plan to try both beer and marijuana, while 18 percent will stick to beer.

Seventy-one percent to 28 percent of adults in Colorado say it wouldn’t bother them if the Denver Broncos smoked pot after the game. There is almost no difference between men and women, but disapproval rises with age. Adults 18 to 49 say they have nothing to worry about, but adults 50 to 64 say they do. 45 percent of adults 65 and up would be bothered by it, while 49 percent would not be bothered by it.

Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said, “Beer is still the drug of choice for Coloradans on Super Bowl Sunday, even though marijuana was just made legal.”

“But if the Broncos want to smoke pot after the game, adults tell them, “Smoke ’em if you got ’em.”

Adults in Colorado think that the Denver Broncos will beat the Seattle Seahawks 84 to 7 percent of the time. Neither age nor gender makes much of a difference.

Adults say that Peyton Manning is a better quarterback than John Elway by a vote of 32% to 14%, with 53% not sure. Men are more likely to choose Manning (38-16%) than women (26-12%). There isn’t much difference between the ages.

“What a quick memory they have. Coloradans think that Peyton Manning, who will be in the Hall of Fame, is a better quarterback than John Elway, who is a legend “Malloy added.

Quinnipiac University polled 490 adults in Colorado on January 29 and 30. The margin of error was +/- 4.4 percentage points. Interviewers call landlines and cell phones to talk to people live.

Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., is in charge of the Quinnipiac University Poll, which asks people in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and Iowa what they think.
