The Japanese yen edged up against the dollar on Friday as demand for safe-haven assets surged following the announcement of the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in a shooting.
By 13:32 Moscow time, the dollar exchange rate against the Japanese currency fell to 135.93 yen from 135.98 yen, according to trading data.
The data also showed that the dollar index, which measures the exchange rate of the US currency against a basket of major currencies, rose 0.18% to 107.32 points.
