Hoffenheim has signed Chile forward Eduardo Vargas from Napoli to compensate for the departure of Roberto Firmino to Liverpool.
The Bundesliga club says the 25-year-old Vargas has signed a deal until June 2019.
Vargas helped Chile win the Copa America on home soil in June by finishing as the tournament’s joint top-scorer with four goals. He was named in the team of the tournament.
Hoffenheim director of football Alexander Rosen says “Eduardo’s outstanding performances at the Copa America naturally captured attention among other clubs across Europe. So we’re happy he decided for Hoffenheim and that we can integrate a flexible, technically strong and robust player up front.”
Vargas scored 22 goals in 48 appearances for Chile.
