Guardiola: Bernardo Silva will be with us next week in Barcelona

Spanish coach Josep Guardiola, manager of English Premier League champions Manchester City, has put an end to rumors about the transfer of his Portuguese player Bernardo Silva to Barcelona.

Bernardo Silva’s name has been linked to a move to Barcelona during the current summer transfer period as Javi Hernandez, the Catalan club’s manager, aims to build a side capable of challenging for Spanish league and Champions League titles.

But Guardiola, the former Barcelona manager, insisted on his desire to keep the Manchester City playmaker at the Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo Silva, 28, joined Manchester City in 2017 from Monaco and has won four Premier League titles among many with Manchester City.

Guardiola revealed in an interview with Catalunya Radio this Thursday that Bernardo will be at Barcelona next week but as a player for Manchester City, where the two teams meet in a fundraising match at the Camp Nou, saying: “In next Wednesday you will see how he plays. Of course. He will definitely play us, Manchester City will play Bernardo and 10 other players.”

This match will benefit research in motor neuron diseases, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

This is the case of former Barcelona goalkeeping coach Juan Carlos Unsui and Stephen Darby, husband of Stephanie Houghton, captain of the Manchester City women’s team.
