Greek Foreign Ministry: Turkey undermines NATO cohesion

The Greek Foreign Ministry said “Turkish officials are undermining NATO cohesion with their statements” and allies and partners will be kept informed.

“We will immediately inform our allies and partners of the content of the provocative statements of recent days so that it becomes clear who is undermining the cohesion of our alliance during this dangerous period,” the State Department said in a statement.

“At the same time, we will continue to act on the basis of international law and the law of the sea, as a pillar of stability and security in the entire region,” she added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier in the day that Greece would pay a “high price” if it “goes further” with Ankara.

On August 28, Ankara accused Greece of pursuing Turkish aircraft with S-300 missiles.
