German defense minister launches veiled warning to Poland if tanks are sent "without permission"

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed that if Poland decides to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks without Berlin’s permission, it will not be friendly to the “coalition”.

The Novosti news agency quoted Pistorius as saying, “I don’t think this is a friendly affair, especially for the coalition.”

He said: “So far, no requests have been received from Warsaw to Berlin for the supply of tanks to Kyiv.”

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Murawski said earlier in an interview with Polsat TV that Poland could transfer its Leopard tanks to Ukraine without waiting for German approval.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz previously announced his readiness to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine if the United States supplies Abrams tanks to Kyiv.
