French electricity transmission company does not rule out winter blackouts

French power grid operator RTE is not ruling out a power outage this winter, according to BFMTV.

The company said that this possibility can be avoided by reducing energy consumption by 1% -5%.

The channel quoted the company as saying: “We cannot completely eliminate the risks of blackouts, but this can be avoided by reducing national energy consumption by 1%-5% in most cases – and by 15% in severe winters. ”

“In winter, the risk of high loads on the power grid increases, but this can be circumvented by tough energy-saving measures,” the company added.
