France seizes 1.5 tons of cannabis from Spain

French customs announced the seizure of about 1.5 tons of cannabis worth more than 9.7 million euros in November in the Eastern Pyrenees in the south of the country, coming from Spain.

During one of the inspections earlier this month, a truck was stopped with 1,497 kilograms of cannabis distributed in 40 bundles.

The customs authorities said in a statement that the drivers, during the verification process, said they were heading to the Paris region with empty trucks.

She added: “When the customs officers opened the trailer, they found a cargo containing only bundles that smelled strongly of cannabis.”

The statement indicated that the investigation was under the direction of the special prosecutor of the district court of Marseille.
