The FIFA International Football Association has requested a comprehensive report on the tragic incident that took place at an Indonesian football stadium in recent hours, resulting in the death of 174 fans.

Yunus Nosi, general secretary of the Indonesian Football Association, said on Sunday that FIFA has requested a report on the accident that occurred in Malang, Java and an association team has been sent to the scene to investigate.

Earlier, Indonesian President Joko Widodo ordered the Super League to suspend matches pending an investigation into the deaths of at least 174 fans during a stampede and riots at a stadium in East Java province.

Arima fans in Kanjuruhan stormed the pitch after their team lost 2-3 to rival Persibae Surabaya, the team’s first defeat in over two decades.

The stampede came after Indonesian police fired tear gas at fans who stormed the stadium.
