First in the world. Robot lawyer breaks into the world of justice

The British company DonutPay announced that it has developed the world’s first robot lawyer, which is controlled using a smartphone.

The company said it will file a lawsuit next month in the United States to help a man in a speeding case against him.

The company added that “for the first time in history, Robert will hear all pleadings in court and provide the defendant with proper and immediate answers”, and promised that it “will incur all financial penalties in the event of Robert’s refusal of the case.” “

DonutPay, a legal services chatbot developer, was founded by Stanford graduate computer scientist Joshua Browder in 2015 and now claims to be the “home” of “the world’s first robot lawyer,” according to Time Now.

The court session is scheduled for February next year, but so far the creators of the bot have not named the exact date, place of the court and the name of the defendant.

The case concerns a speeding ticket that was issued against a defendant who would only say what an AI bot directed him to.

For its part, the science and technology magazine New Scientist said that “an artificial intelligence robot will process and analyze information that will be heard in court, and then advise the defendant to respond through an earpiece placed in his ear.”

While the existence of a robot lawyer is certainly an experiment and comes with some danger to the defendants, it opens interesting doors for the future of artificial intelligence.
