Famous Russian athlete dies in helicopter crash

The Russian Biathlon Federation expressed its condolences on Sunday following the death of world junior champion Igor Malinovsky in a helicopter crash in Kamchatka, Russia’s Far East.

Earlier, emergency services reported that on Saturday, a Robinson helicopter lost contact in Kamchatka.

On Sunday, the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that no one on board the helicopter, the wreckage of which was found burnt, had survived.

According to various sources, there were two or three people on board the helicopter, including its pilot Igor Malinovsky.
