Ex-Prime Minister of Slovakia emphasizes that sanctions against Russia are useless and harm the country

Former Slovak prime minister and parliamentary opposition leader Robert Fico stressed that anti-Russian sanctions do not work and harm countries like Slovakia.

“Western sanctions against Russia do not work. More importantly, they hurt countries like Slovakia. The West has gone completely crazy,” Fico said.

He pointed out that Ukraine is responsible for cutting off oil supplies to Slovakia and other Central European countries.

“Ukraine has stopped oil supplies via the southern branch of the pipeline. Thus, Ukraine has fulfilled its threats that it can do something similar,” Fico added.

He noted that Russia last month paid for the transportation of oil in August through Ukraine, but the Kyiv authorities did not accept the payment, citing sanctions imposed by the West.

He stressed that Ukraine did it “with the blessing of the West.”
