French star Karim Benzema is set to write his name in gold letters on his Real Madrid team’s records when the latter face Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night in the European Super Cup.
Benzema is currently Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer with 323 goals, tied with retired Spanish star Raul Gonzalez, and the French striker needs to score against Eintracht Frankfurt to be the only one in second place.
Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, a former Real Madrid star, tops the list of the Royal Club’s historical goalscorers with 450 goals.
Benzema scored his 323 goals in 604 matches, while Raúl needed 741 matches and Ronaldo only 450 matches.
It should be noted that Real Madrid will play in the European Supermatch as champions of the Champions League last season, while Eintracht Frankfurt will become champions of the Europa League.
