European Commission and Biden discuss advancements in clean energy

The White House announced that President Joe Biden, in a telephone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, discussed a shared commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy.

The White House indicated that the two sides discussed “Von der Leyen’s recent visit to Beijing and their shared commitment to upholding an international order based on rules, human rights and fair trade practices.”

The parties also reaffirmed “the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, the commitment of the United States and the European Union to ensure that Ukraine receives the economic and security assistance it needs, and ongoing joint efforts to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy.”
