European and American Airlines Forced to Reschedule or Cancel Flights Due to Aircraft Engine Recall

According to the Financial Times, European and American airlines are forced to reschedule or cancel flights due to the recall of an aircraft engine by Pratt & Whitney.

The newspaper reported that the company’s announcement about the recall of about 1,200 aircraft engines from Airbus aircraft prompted airlines in Europe and the United States to change flight schedules.

According to the publication, Pratt & Whitney decided to recall the engines for examination due to fears of a crack, and in this regard, airlines are seeking to find spare engines and even rent them.

On July 25, Pratt & Whitney announced that the majority of the Airbus A320neo fleet would require rapid removal and inspection within the next nine to twelve months.

Quality Control Measure Ensures Flight Safety

Company officials described the problem as a quality control measure, stressing that there was no immediate threat to flight safety and blaming “a rare occurrence of metal powder in the production of certain engine parts.”
