EU to resume discussions on gas price caps on December 13

Czech Industry and Trade Minister Josef Sekela, whose country currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, announced that EU energy ministers will resume discussions on lowering gas prices next month.

And the Czech minister tweeted on Friday: “I have just returned from Brussels, where I chaired two important ministerial meetings. gas”.

He confirmed that the meeting will take place on 13 December.

Notably, European ministers failed to agree on a gas price ceiling proposed by the European Commission.

On November 22, the European Commission presented a draft of an interim gas market management mechanism to combat the energy crisis in the EU, which aims to set a maximum cap on gas prices in order to reduce market fluctuations and protect residents in the EU from large gas price hikes, but most European countries considered the proposal ineffective.
