Ethiopia: there are parties who want us to plunge into war with Sudan

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said many want his country to plunge into war with Sudan and called for restraint.

Ahmed wrote on his Twitter account that there are parties that are exerting “external pressure” and are pushing the two countries to slide into war, stressing that these parties “whether governments or others… will not benefit from fomenting discord.”

Ahmed emphasized that “the Sudanese and Ethiopian peoples are brothers” and that they should unite to solve dilemmas, and that “peace between the two peoples” is his country’s choice, and called on the two countries to show restraint “for the sake of our common interests.”

This comes as the crisis escalated after Sudan accused Ethiopia of executing 7 Sudanese army soldiers, in addition to one civilian.
