Eriksen comments on Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has confirmed he is “sad” that Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer at United, while insisting the club can move forward without the Portuguese star.

“We’re sad because Ronaldo is not involved in this,” the Danish midfielder said on Monday, a day after United’s first 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League since Ronaldo’s controversial departure.

He added: “His legacy and his name is in any great club. It was a great happiness for me to play with him in my football career.”

“Football continues. You feel that in the next game people will forget how it was before, and now we are focused on ensuring that he (Ronaldo) is no longer with us, ”added Eriksen.

Ronaldo’s second run at Manchester United ended with him exiting a narrow door coinciding with the World Cup in Qatar after a fiery interview in which he criticized his Dutch coach Erik ten Hag and the club’s owners.

As far as inside the green box is concerned, Ronaldo’s influence has waned since the Dutch coach took over technical matters at the start of the current season.
