Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has confirmed that his country will intensify negotiations on a “grain corridor” over the next 10 days to agree on a safe passage for the transport of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
“We will work to intensify our negotiations over the next week or 10 days to reach a result,” he said at a press conference with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, stressing that “events in the region have concretely demonstrated the importance of Turkey to the European Union .”
Regarding the SAMP-T air defense system, which is being developed by the European anti-aircraft missile company Evrosam, he said: “We are striving to enter the stage of signing the system, because it is of great importance for our defense systems.”
He stressed that “the return of migrants by Greece has become a threat to Rome as well, as illegal migrants pushed out of Greek waters seek refuge in Italy.”
