Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the upcoming elections in his country “historic and decisive.”
Erdogan said in a speech before a meeting of the General Assembly to stop “raising the flag” in Istanbul: “A big test awaits us in the upcoming elections.”
He added: “Taking into account the existing alignments in Turkey, as well as the situation in the region and the world, we affirm that the upcoming elections in Turkey will be historic and key in every sense of the word.”
Erdoğan summed up his presidency by saying: “We are the ones who gave full rights to some parties that were marginalized in our people and who were deprived of them many years before us.”
