Erdogan: NATO provides Ukraine with full support, but we must show this with a vision of peace

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that NATO provides Ukraine with full support, but we must show this with a vision of peace and strive to stop the human tragedy as soon as possible.

Erdogan added that it is important for NATO to show its determination to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and this should not remain empty.

The Turkish President stressed that his country has been fighting separatist terrorism for almost 40 years, and thousands of Turks have become victims of terrorism, so we can no longer tolerate delays.

Regarding the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Erdogan said that what we observed during the accession process shows the red lines of Turkey regarding the terrorist dossier.

In this context, he stressed that the tripartite memorandum of understanding signed with Sweden and Finland is a “diplomatic victory” for Turkey and its people after a difficult negotiation process.

The Turkish President made it clear that Ankara will closely follow the implementation of the issues fixed in the tripartite memorandum signed with Sweden and Finland and will take appropriate measures.

Erdogan pointed out that Sweden promised to hand over 73 terrorists to Turkey.

The statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was made during the summit of leaders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the Spanish capital of Madrid.
