Erdogan announces fight against fires in southwestern Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the forest fires that broke out three days ago in several areas of the southwestern province of Muğla have been brought under control.

This became known during a press conference held at the Coordinating Center for the Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters in Marmaris Mugla.

Erdogan explained that the teams controlled forest fires in the Dalaman, Fethiye, Koycegiz and Sidi Kemer regions.

The Turkish President indicated that there were no casualties and losses of citizens as a result of the ongoing fires in Marmaris, Anatolia quoted the agency as saying.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahid Kirichi announced the evacuation of 103 families and 247 people from homes and workplaces near the fire in Marmaris to avoid harm.

The suppression work has been going on since June 21st.
