Erdogan announced the discovery of an oil field with reserves of one billion dollars

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of oil fields in the Adana region in southern Turkey, where oil reserves are estimated at one billion dollars.

“Two exploration wells in Adana have found high-quality oil,” Erdogan said in an address to the nation after a cabinet meeting on Monday.

He added that “the value of the reserves is estimated at about one billion dollars”, stressing that preparations are underway to launch a total of 10 wells by drilling 8 new wells in the same field.

Erdogan noted that over the past five years, Turkey has managed to increase domestic oil production from 37,000 to 60,000 barrels per day.
