Energy crisis casts a shadow over France’s waters

French citizens have complained about the massive increase in the price of the country’s water bills after the energy crisis and high prices cast a shadow over the water industry.

According to France 3: “It’s all about water treatment systems that consume a lot of expensive electricity and high prices for raw materials such as chlorine and activated carbon.”

Jean-Pierre Thibault, a resident of the French city of Tours, expressed dissatisfaction with the 11% increase in the price of a cubic meter of water in 2022 compared to 2021 in an interview with a TV channel.

According to Director General of the Water Information Center Marilis Mack, the average cost per cubic meter of water was 4.3 euros, based on one euro per day per household.

The director of the Water Information Center confirmed that in some places these tariffs have increased, and the increase has ranged from 5 to 60 percent.

The European continent is facing an unprecedented energy crisis after the West stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia over the situation in Ukraine, which led to higher prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy.

According to the Russian president, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
