Egyptian star Noor El-Sherbini writes history

Egyptian star Noor El-Sherbini has written her name in golden letters in squash history by winning the final tournament title for the fourth time, equaling the achievement of Malaysian Nicole David and Englishwoman Laura Massaro.

World champion Nur El-Sherbini won the final of the squash season at the expense of her compatriot Nuran Gohar, who won the world number one, defeating her 3-0 in the final match between them today, Sunday.

Nour El-Sherbini, who is ranked second in the world, won the second championship this season at the expense of Nuran Gohar after the Women’s World Championship last May.

The 26-year-old Egyptian star has won two world titles as well as the Big Eight PSA World Tour Finals in a season (2021-2022).

“I’m happy with my performance today, I think it’s my best performance of the season overall,” Noor El-Sherbini, world runner-up, said in an interview after the match.

And she continued: “I wanted to finish the tournament well, and I don’t think there is anything better than this. I am satisfied with my performance in the last 3 tournaments. put pressure on yourself in every match. I look forward to a long rest and a better return.”

She added about Nuran: “She is the first in the world, a strong player and has not lost a single game throughout the tournament. She is the first in the world and I am the second, so the competition between us is very strong.”

In turn, Egypt’s Mostafa Asal won the final G8 squash championship in the Men’s PSA World Tour Final, also beating the New Zealander 3-0.

It is noteworthy that the tournament was held in the Egyptian city on October 6, and the total prize fund was 400 thousand dollars, both for men’s and women’s competitions.
