Egyptian club respond to Chelsea owner’s claims about Salah

Chelsea owner Todd Boly sparked a backlash after citing misinformation about his team’s academy success, noting that it had trained the likes of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne.

The response came from the official Facebook account of the Arab Contractors club to comments from London club owner Todd Boly.

The Contractors account posted a photo of Mohamed Salah and commented: “A fact that is known to the whole world, except for one person. Mohamed Salah is the son of the Arab Contractors Club and the pride of Egypt and the Arabs.”

And Boly said in statements on the sidelines of the Salt NYC conference, “We have one of the best academies in the world. Academy graduates are Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Mason Mount and Chaluba.”

Meanwhile, Egyptian club board member Mohamed Adel Fathi expressed surprise at statements by Chelsea owner American businessman Todd Boly that he considers Salah to be one of the sons of the English club’s academy.

Fathi said: “What the new owner of the Chelsea club is saying is clowning and misunderstanding, and there is no difference, firstly, that Mohamed Salah is one of the young men of the Arab contractors, and Boilly’s conviction that that he is one of the Chelsea youth is a misunderstanding.”

He also added that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah “is the pride of the Arab contractors club and of Egyptian and Arab football, and the Arab contractors are proud to have him as one of his sons.”

And he considered that “the whole world knows about Salah’s career and how he started in the club of contractors, but it seems that the owner of Chelsea is the only person in the world who does not know this information.”
