Egypt witnesses a surge in cigarette prices

The Eastern Tobacco Company, which accounts for 70% of the Egyptian market, announced an increase in the price of cigarettes and honey.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Stock Exchange today, Sunday, the company decided to increase the price of all its products, including cigarettes, cigars, honey, pipe smoke and hair, by one to three pounds per pack.

This new increase is the second one approved by the company in less than 7 months, following a price hike last September from £1.50 to £2.

The company also raised prices in March 2022, with prices ranging from half a pound to one pound.
