Egypt raises fees for the passage of ships through the Suez Canal

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority has announced a change in the surcharges levied on oil tankers.

And she added in a posting on her website that the surcharges are temporary and subject to change or waiver according to changes in the shipping market, since the fees were introduced for loaded crude oil tankers and amount to 25% of normal transit fees. . and for empty oil tankers from April 1 – 15%.

The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, announced a 15% increase in transit fees for all types of ships passing through the canal during 2023, while transit fees for both bulk carriers and cruise ships will increase by 10% . , provided that the implementation of the planned increase will begin from the beginning of the month of January 2023.

And the solution came:
1) Change in additional charges levied on tankers carrying petroleum products [الفئة (2L) بجدول رسوم العبور] Transit through the Suez Canal in both directions to become 25% of the normal transit fees.

2) Change in additional charges levied on empty tankers for the transportation of petroleum products. [الفئة (2B) بجدول رسوم العبور] Transit through the Suez Canal in both directions to become 15% of the normal transit fees.
