Iraqi Kurdistan’s Ministry of Natural Resources said Iraqi oil exports via the Kurdistan-Turkey pipeline were halted at dawn today as a precautionary measure.
The ministry said that as a result of the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria today, as well as in order to ensure the safety of the oil export process and prevent any undesirable emergencies, oil exports through the Kurdistan-Turkey Pipeline have been stopped since dawn today.
The Iraqi Kurdistan Ministry of Natural Resources has said it plans to resume exports once inspections are complete.
Last month, Iraqi oil exports through the Kurdistan-Turkey pipeline and the Ceyhan port amounted to about 2.475 million barrels, while exports from oil fields in central and southern Iraq amounted to about 98.460 million barrels.
This morning, parts of Turkey and Syria were hit by a massive earthquake that killed hundreds and injured thousands, and damaged homes and infrastructure.
Since then, Iraqi cities have been hit by a series of earthquakes following the aftershocks of the quake that hit Turkey and northern Syria at dawn on Monday.
