The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his pride in the achievements of the Dubai Metro, which has reached two billion passengers since its opening in 2009.
Bin Rashid tweeted via Twitter: “Today, the number of passengers on the Dubai Metro has reached two billion since it opened on September 9, 2009. The number of its trains is 129. The number of its stations is 53. The number of passengers per day exceeds 600,000, and the percentage of schedule compliance is 99.7%.
He added: “The idea of the Dubai Metro was not familiar in the region… its culture was unacceptable… and its decision was not agreed with the majority of officials, but the responsibility required us to make an unusual and unacceptable decision.. and we carried out what we what they promised .. and did what they said ..
