Draw date officially set "bay 25"

The Iraqi Football Association announced today, Sunday, that the draw ceremony for the Gulf 25 Championship, scheduled to take place in the city of Basra in the south of the country from January 6 to 19, 2023, will take place on October 25.

The Iraqi Federation stated in a brief media statement that “The Gulf Arab Cup Football Federation has decided to hold the draw for the 25th Gulf Cup in the city of Basra on October 25, 2022.”

The Arabian Gulf Cup is held every two years and the first edition was held in Bahrain in 1970 and Qatar hosted the last edition in 2014.

Kuwait holds the record number of times to win the title with 10 titles, compared to 3 titles for Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq and two titles for the Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman.

It is noteworthy that Iraq hosted the Persian Gulf Cup for the first time in 1979 in the capital Baghdad at the Al Shaab International Stadium and was crowned with the title of the fifth edition.
